Where is the venue?
One of the most beautiful historic private houses in Tuscany.
Villa Grabau – Via per Matraia, 269, 55100 San Pancrazio, Lucca LU, Italy
Why Italy?
Our family and friends are spread wide across the United States and beyond. The location where we host our wedding will be a destination for the majority of our guests. With that in mind, we decided to have our wedding in a place where we could make new memories together! The people, the history, the architecture, the food, and of course the wine - all of which we look forward to sharing with you.
Why July?
Yes – we totally realize that it may be hot, but we like the idea of a hot Italian vacation. The date itself has special significance to us as we claim our first date to be exactly 5 years ago. We also wanted to host the wedding on a Thursday, so there could be some before relaxation after the wedding instead of cramming it into one weekend.
Lastly, having Sheyda’s brother there means the world to her & his residency schedule is pretty inflexible. Why does he have to be so smart?
What will it cost to travel?
Flights can range anywhere from $600-$1,800 depending on travel dates and airport departure/arrival locations. Accommodations can range from $100-$400 per night depending on the setup (hotel room vs. apartment vs. villa).
Transportation can range from $100-$200 per person to get to and from the main international airports.
We strongly recommend taking advantage of the trains in Italy as they operate consistently, smoothly, and are a more cost-effective option than car rentals or taxis.
Where should I fly into/How do I get to Lucca?
We recommend flying into either Rome (FCO) Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport, Milan (MXP) Malpensa International Airport or Florence (FLR). From any of these airports, you can take a high-speed train or car to Lucca.
What days should I arrive/depart from Lucca?
Our celebrations will begin in Lucca on Monday, July 8. This wedding week will include a winery tour, Florence expedition, & coast day. Check back soon for more details.
On Thursday, July 11, our ceremony will begin at 6pm at Villa Grabau & then the cocktail hour will follow at 7:30pm with dinner shortly after.
Do you have a hotel block for guests?
Hotel blocks are not available at this time, however there are many incredible options for places to stay within the walls of the City Center of Lucca and just outside.
Our recommendations for hotels are posted on our TRAVEL page. There are a number of wonderful Airbnb & VRBO options in the area as well.
Are kids allowed?
We kindly ask that friends & family with children plan for childcare to be able to attend the wedding & subsequent events without children.
Can I bring a date?
We kindly ask you to reference how your Save The Date was addressed to determine if you are allotted a plus one. If you have any questions, please contact Sheyda directly.
Should I bring a gift?
The short answer is no! If you can make it, consider the costs of your trip to be your wedding gift to us. We are honored to have you celebrate with us so far away from home! If you feel the need, we are registered HERE.
What should I do if I can’t make it?
While we will definitely miss your presence, we completely understand. We will plan to celebrate together in the US once we return!
Where are the ceremony/reception taking place?
The ceremony & reception is being held at the Villa Grabau.
Will transportation be provided to/from the venue for the ceremony?
Aside from the day trip to Florence, guests are responsible for their own transportation. There will be some taxis to pick up guests from Villa Grabau on the wedding day.
What should I wear/Is there a dress code?
The dress code is “Italian garden formal” – Think linen suits for men & flowy pieces for the ladies. No need to rent a tux or even a tie. But you better put together a lewk. We’ve got you covered with a mood board HERE. Still need direction? Feel free to text Sheyda. She was born for this.
Some of the events may take place outside on grass or gravel, please keep this in mind when selecting shoe choices. We also recommend keeping an eye on the weather for outdoor-appropriate clothing.
What will the weather be like in July?
The weather will be perfect! The average temperature in Lucca, Italy in July is 85° / 63°.
Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?
It will be a combination of both indoor and outdoor experiences. The ceremony will be outdoors in the gardens. The aperitivo & dinner will be outside of the Lemonhouse followed by dessert and dancing inside.
Will there be any vegan/vegetarian/gluten-free or other special dietary options?
If you make the request, we will accommodate. Please let us know on the RSVP page.
